POLI 308D – A Radical but Innovative Course

POLI 308D - The uncommon but highly applicable political science course at the University of British Columbia

POLI 308D Issues in Canadian Politics, led by Professor Fred Cutler and TA Alexandre Rivard. 308D is a project-based course that operates alongside the 2019 43rd Canadian Federal Election and ends shortly after so. For a political science course, a scholarly discipline, the course goes beyond that scope to achieve something different.

Learning Significance

  1. This course has not reached the end yet, but so far, I have observed the value, my self, and my classmates are getting out of this course. This is essentially a political science project management course, so we are forced to use/or learn other skills in order to keep up with the course's demands. Collaborating, coordinating, mediating, voting (on group decisions), optimization (group member skills/knowledge/information), are just a few skills that are essential for thriving in this course. I look forward to the end result, and to find out what else I will learn from this type of course work, my classmates, and the actual project itself.
