I have been volunteering with Federal LPC since 2013. When Justin Trudeau was nominated as party leader, he energized politics, and notably for some youth including myself to get involved. Fast forward to 2019, and I am once again helping with the LPC Campaign for the 2019 federal election.
I've done phone banking, door canvassing, administration, event operations, and leading as a coordinator for the LPC.

Being a part of a political party from the ground up has taught me the importance of connection, inclusion, and being heard. After years of talking to voters at their door, over the phone, or other volunteers, what I've observed is that people simply want to be heard, felt understood, and have a sense of real inclusion.
Using these principles has strengthened my own ability to empathize with others and it has always been a great help in solving problems with others. Not listening to reply, but listening to understand is the first step to connecting with someone, and perhaps should be the first step in politics.
